The In Vitro Services department at BTS Research provides clinical pathology services for all animal species, bioanalytical for small molecules and biologics, and cell-based functional assays to support pharmaceutical product development.
BTS Research offers its clients several in vitro assays to help determine the efficacy, mechanism of action and toxicity of their compounds. We have over 350 cancer cell lines, primary normal cells and various drug resistant cell lines, valuable tools to evaluate small drug molecules and biologics, siRNA and liposomal formulated drugs.

Animal Species
BTS Research’s experienced staff can work with you to design and execute cost-effective protocols for preclinical studies. All work is conducted per IACUC approved protocols and with special attention to animal welfare. Several species can be ordered immune-suppressed.

Drug Development Process
Development. On average there are 5,000 to 10,000 molecules for each potential drug candidate. These molecules are subjected to a screening process from which, after careful review, one or more lead compounds are chosen.

Housing Vivarium Space
BTS Research is committed to being the service leader in bioscience testing and research by providing excellent, personalized and cost effective technical and quality work to its clients.
BTS Research operates a 40,000 square-foot vivarium, built to AAALAC standards. This state-of-the-art vivarium space utilizes the privacy and security of the Edstrom’s Watchdog system, which monitors, records and controls temperature, humidity, pressure and access. This facility has the capability of housing a multitude of species, which includes, but is not limited to mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, goats, sheep, swine, dogs, and non-human primates.

Pharmacology Services
PK/PD
Pharmacokinetic (PK) studies are usually conducted in the early stages of the drug discovery process. The data collected from these studies is used to evaluate the bio-availability and target specificity of the compound. This data helps in determining if the compound is a good candidate to move forward with larger studies. PK studies can also play a role in determining the best route of administration for the compound. Whether your compound is alone, cassette dosing, or a delivery platform, BTS Research has a core competency in performing these studies following established SOP’s. The study can be conducted under GLP per customer request.
